Have Your Say: Shaping the Future of Grimsby Together
Did you know that you can have a direct say in the decisions that shape Grimsby’s future? Many people feel like they’re never asked about key decisions—especially when it comes to how funding is spent—but the truth is, there is a way to get involved and make your voice heard.
How Can You Get Involved?
North East Lincolnshire Council has a dedicated ‘Have Your Say’ page where local people can give feedback on projects, services, and important funding decisions. However, many residents simply aren’t aware that this exists!
👉 Visit the page here: [Have Your Say - North East Lincolnshire Council https://www.nelincs.gov.uk/your-council/data-feedback-and-engagement/have-your-say/
This section of the council’s website is where you’ll find consultations on a range of topics, from regeneration plans to public services. Your input matters, and this is your chance to influence how money is spent and what improvements are prioritised.
Why Is It Important to Speak Up?
Far too often, we hear people say, “Nobody asked us,” or “We weren’t given a choice.” The reality is that decisions are being made every day, and the more people engage, the better those decisions will reflect what the community actually wants and needs.**
By taking part, you can:
✅ Ensure funding is used in ways that benefit the community
✅ Have a say on regeneration projects and what’s important for Grimsby’s future
✅ Help shape services that impact you and your family
✅ Hold decision-makers accountable by making your opinions known
What Kind of Decisions Can You Influence?
💰 Town Centre Regeneration & Investment – Where should money be spent? What businesses or amenities should be prioritised?
🚧 Public Spaces & Infrastructure – Have an issue with roads, parks, or town planning? Share your thoughts!
🏥 Local Services – From health services to waste collection, your feedback can help shape local policies.
🎭 Leisure & Culture – Want to see more family-friendly entertainment or cultural events? Get involved in the conversation!
What Happens to Your Feedback?
Some people feel that even when they are asked, they don’t always get what they wanted. The reality is that everyone has different views and priorities, and all feedback is collected, reviewed, and shared with council officers.
These ideas are then considered by the Council Cabinet, where funding, feasibility, and legal restrictions are assessed. Some ideas simply can’t be done due to financial or practical limitations.
🔍 Scrutiny & Decision-Making – Every decision made by the council goes through a scrutiny process, ensuring transparency and accountability.
While not every idea can be implemented, the feedback helps shape priorities and future planning.
Your Voice Counts!
If more people in Grimsby took part in these consultations, we could see real change that reflects what the community actually wants. This is a chance to move beyond social media discussions and take real action by engaging with the council directly.
📢 Let’s make sure our voices are heard!
Take a few minutes to check out the ‘Have Your Say’ page and get involved in shaping Grimsby’s future.
